Here
are just a few examples of portrait photographs which are worthy of so much
than the restraints laid upon them by the photographic medium itself. Each image
could be, and should be, a fine art painting, elevating it from its momentary
existence as an image in some long-forgotten issue of a magazine or mail order
catalogue, to a more worthy place, framed on countless walls.

For
every image shown here (and in all the other galleries that follow) there are
tens of thousands more packing china tea chests, gathering dust in doctors'
waiting rooms, or rotting on some waste ground - shame.
